DeSoto Caverns is America’s most historic Caverns featuring gemstone quality onyx. This gem is located just 36 miles southeast of Birmingham down Hwy 280. DeSoto Caverns features over 12 outside attractions that include a maze, gem panning, crystal find, wacky water golf, paddle boats, and more. Their park also features a cafe with delicious meals and treats, campgrounds, a gift shop, a scenic picnic area, and pavilions near waterfalls, streams, and ponds. This cave has been stewarded by the Mathis family for over 100 years. The caverns are at a temperature of 60 degrees year-round. They have over 20 above-ground interactive attractions, many of which are based on hands-on experiences. DeSoto Caverns is loacted just 8.3 miles from the city of Montgomery.
